Zenitar M2S 50/2 AKA Plastic Fantastic

As you can imagine, this may be more of a users' than a collectors' issue. I have been very impressed by the general image quality of the Zenitar M2S 50mm f2 lens, as well as it's close focusing distance of approx. 0.35m (similar to the Pentacon 50mm f1.8). So much so that I have stocked up on three of them. However, it lacks an auto/manual switch, so I thought I might convert one of them for use on other bodies, like my Minolta XD7, or even my Pentax K100D DSLR. Has anyone tried to disable the aperture linkage on one of these, and if so is it fairly easy to do in a non-destructive way?

Yes it is, simply take off the bottom plate of the lens and put a sleeve over the pin to stop it poking through. This will keep it in the Manual mode, plastic wire insulation or a section of the plastic from a ctton bud stick will do. Or you can get an adapter with a flange on it that pushes up the pin, for Y/C mount and Pentax K at least. Try looking on MFlenses for Alex (HK300) he can supply adapters from Hong Kong at a decent price I have a K mount and a Y/C one. Yes it is a superb lens I have it in m42 and K mount and virtually always have either with me

Samsung GX-10,too many Russian Lenses, A lot of Zenits, an Almaz 103 a few Yashica,and finally a Minox35GT

Thanks Richard - I will give that a go... The DSLR I use is a Pentax K100D Super, but I have never found any K mount - M42 adaptors that have the flange, so I need to mechanically alter the lens.
