Hi guys, it's my first topic.

I'm Luigi and I write from Italy

I have a problem and I would like your help.

A friend sells a Zenit 1 (first type) at a good price.
I checked his serial number and I had many doubts and curiosity to understand.
The camera has 6 numbers and the first two are 58 ...
How is it possible?

Many thanks ...

Hi Luigi,
is it perhaps 53 ? '3' on the Zenits from 1953 could be mixed up with '8', then in 1954 the serial number inscription became different, '3' looked very different from '8'. Do you have a photo?

I thought about this, but Zenit S (C) always has seven or eight digits for the serial number.

Hello Luigi, welcome to the forum.

I owned a Zenit C for a short while. I quite liked it, I could have lived with the line down the middle of the viewfinder and got used to loading it from the bottom but the shutter broke twice, both times after firing it a few times so I thought it best to send it back.
