Fake Leica based on Fed 1f?

Here's another fake which I think is based on a FED 1f or 1g?

The serial number even for a Leica is wrong because that number should have a slow speed dial :-)
I think I've seen more of these number ranges for the fakes. Peculiar is that the bottom plate has German text and the paint on the inside of that plate has a texture.
It was picked up by my father in The Filipines in the 1980s when he was stationed there and visited camera stores to pass his free time.

It makes pretty good pictures after new curtains and CLA.

Fine photo! Your camera seems perfectly working.

About your question, impossible to say if the conversion was made from a 1f or a 1g. It could have been a 1f second series (from c. s/n 300000) with the new scale of speeds. Or a 1e first series (with the curved spring release).

I suppose it doesn't have a Fed serial number on the back? It would be too easy!Smile

Amitiés. Jacques.

It doesn't Jacques. We got to have some detective work remaining otherwise it wouldn't be fun :-)
Amicalement,
Peter
