Zenit 6

Hello friends!

It's my very first time to see Zenit-6 camera with double engravings! Even leather case has metal plaque with Zenit-6 engraved on the top... Your opinion would be very appreciated!

Very interesting muddled font... ;) Btw., the first letter is not "Ç" ("Z"), but "3" (three). See the "Times" typeface.
hmm... this cell cover almost looks like it's been added as an afterthought later on by someone who wanted to protect the selenium cell from deteriorating...
For sure it is a home made modification

If the cell cover was original it would be engraved in the same language as the camera!
also it seems to be made with shiny metal material which does not fit with the overall finish of the camera.. I would think the KMZ designers have some kind of aesthetic problem with mixing flat and glossy metal finishes there...
Thanks for your comments!

I wouldn't be so categorical about the authentity of particular camera ... Smile

First of all, I have to answer few questions to myself. Let's talk about cell covering. We have to agree, that idea to protect cells from detariorating is not bad indeed. The lightmeter on my camera still working ! ... Smile
My question would be what's the reason of Zenit-6 markings on it? It's impossible to do such a cover outside the factory. Let's say someone skilled person loved his camera a lot and have spent a lot of time (and even more factory funds) to improve his camera and to make it more attractive with double Zenit markings ... What's the reason then to make another same quality metal plaque for camera case ...?

For me it seems to be especially made for donation purposes. The shining cell cover confirming this, plus a lot of accessories in the set, including never seen before special handle (!) and Rubin sunshade with front cap ...

Aidas

Hi Aidas, I was saying that it is an afterthought modification, maybe at factory by an individual but probably not part of series release - never questioned its authenticity, it's a Zenit 6 after all Smile Although I think with right tools it's possible to stamp tin at home as well...

Hi Aidas and Vlad,
I agree with Vlad that it is a home-made or non-authorized modification ... not a presentation camera or prototype variation made by KMZ. But it is a good idea to have that meter covered (and that is what the original case was also meant to do).
