Here is something interesting that I did not know existed.

The box only, and I am guessing that a KIEV 6C-TTL camera from 1980 came with it originally, since the XXVI Congress started on Feb. 23 1981.

Also guessing that the camera was not marked with any commemorative markings ... just the box, and maybe this camera in box was given to important or senior officials attending the Congress.

Anyone know anything or have any thoughts about it?

Hi Bill,

thanks for showing this to us. I have never suspect about the existance of this anniversary box indeed. I possess a similar Salute-C box with commemorative markings "Kiev-1500" on it.

Best Regards,
Aidas

Very interesting! I didn't think Arsenal was part of the "Congress camera effort" hmm....

Probably there was not an official "Congress camera effort" but maybe some of the more important attendees may have been presented with this more expensive camera, or it was for sale at the Congress for those who could afford it.

I'm sure that the different Zavods were always happy to be represented and their products shown / offered to the Party bosses and representatives! Best way to get future funding! Look at what Khruschev's love for the early FS-2 did for the life and production of the Fotosniper models! Probably a lesson not lost on the rest of the camera industry.

Regards, Bill
