Very nice Juhani! I got my Kiev 5 from Fedka too! Cool camera! A very interesting example of a risky deviation from the Contax. . I wonder why people never liked them though? Abramov says these were canned due to unpopularity... maybe because it's bigger? |

I wonder what was the price for the Kiev-5 in its time.
This is another idea, Vlad. Not even an idea, a project I wanted to do, but did not enough material. It would be very interesting to know prices for the cameras when they were sold new. The prices must be, of course, authenticated by the original papers (manuals, passports) or boxes (they often had prices on them). This could go to Wiki under "documents".

That's a good idea, I actually think Aidas has a lot of those prices on his site, I've copied what he had into some entries.. you can just edit an existing entry and add a line with a original price in there... no need for extra entries.. but I like where you're going with this.

I like this idea. This is part of the history. The practice of printing prices on papers is also very unique and communism. So no capitalist profiteers could exploit the working class.

Juhani,
It's almost like you have been reborn.
I've seen your collection. So nice and neatly displayed. Are you going to add a new wing to your house to display the new additions?

Thanks! And yes, this forum is to blame for my rebirth = new spark to get other than Smena & Elikon again. But also the time here in Finland is now right to buy film cameras, as most local collectors are selling but no buying. So I can get them locally, low postage and ability to check for function. With a bit of reorganizing I can still get a dozen more into the vitrines, total camera count now being at approx 210.

Very typical E's with nothing special, and easy to sell locally & get 20 euros. So only the dull work of listing & packing, but gives some money back.
Zenit Junior and the lenses were a specially nice surprise for me, I (sceptic) thought that the lenses would have been normal versions.

Ohhh ... just crazy! It's "a little" too much, for shure. At www.leicashop.com you can find one too, for 90 Euro. It's a lot of money for such a camera ... :-(

My sixth Fed S arrived some days ago. One must be mad to buy the same camera for the sixth time... But in fact, they are all different and this one has an aluminium shutter cradle and a holed film pressure plate.
How can I explain it to her?

I supouse I was lucky, but I bought my Zenit Junior few years ago form UK seller for $15 + shipping. Because seller was the only owner I can only assume that they was sold in UK. |
