210mm / f4.5-36
Lens for view cameras
Factory: VOOMP / Leningrad, USSR (probably designed at GOI)
Year: circa 1929-1932
Serial Number: No. 5
.
Notes: This lens is a direct copy of the Cooke "Aviar" from England, circa 1924.
Probably re-designed by GOI (The State Institute for Optics) which is still in existance in Leningrad today. This lens is uncoated, has a 58mm screw-threaded mount, a heavy bronze body, a 20 blade diaphram, and will work well on standard Soviet FK View cameras (as well as on non-Soviet view cameras) that were in use at that time and later. The last photo shows it next to a FED 50mm lens for size comparison.
.
The engraving on the lens reads:
"VOOMP Experimental Factory ... Leningrad ... Aviar ... F=210 ... 1:4.5 ... No. 5"
