Need help with my FED-1

Hello everyone,
This is my first post to this forum, and I am in need of some help. I have an FED-1 that I need recalibrated. All of the photos I have taken with it have turned out blurry, and I want it fixed. I have seen tutorials on how to fix it, but it is way out of my realm of camera knowledge, and I am trying to find someone that I can send it to to help. I am a member of "The Photo Forum", and have been for quite a while. Nobody on there knew of anyone that fixes this sort of thing. I have also emailed literally dozens of camera repair shops, and all have told me that they don't work with Russian cameras, and don't know of anyone that does. Is there anyone on this forum that knows how to recalibrate an FED-1? I am willing to pay for the calibration, and have it sent to a reputable member that knows their stuff with this camera. Any help at all would be great! I really want to start using my FED. Thanks!

Hi Nick,

Sorry to be so late...
But if you have not yet sent your camera to a repairman, perhaps you could check some points before:

-Which Fed 1 is it? Pre or post war? Post war ones (from serial # c.300000) were calibrated to 28,8mm, prewar were calibrated together with the original lens.
-Which lens do you have? Fed or not? Pre or post war? Same reason as above.
-Do you use the lens correctly (sorry! Smile). Do you pull it completely and lock it?
-Is the rangefinder correctly in use?

I am surprised all your pictures are blurred. Even if you have a mismatched body/lens, you should have correct landscape pictures (taken at infinity). Unless the lens is out of order...

Last thing: any screw mount Leica repairman should be able to check and repair a Fed 1: it's the same mechanism...

Amitiés. Jacques.
