Hi Vlad,
As a regular reader of USSRPhoto.com forum, I am sure I am not alone in being annoyed by the increasingly regulsr interference to our subject matter by spam from contributers such as addidasshopa4 and newzheng. The former one seems to even be a member. Is there some way that these could be filtered out before they reach the pages of our forum. Members who use the forum in this way should be removed.
David.

Hi David,
I am aware of this problem and assure you that I am annoyed the most since I have to clean this spam out on regular basis. What happens is, the forum software filters out 99% of this automatically, I see it in the logs, but some of it simulates a human being or is a human being the posting this nonesense, and most really I can do is lock that member immediately and delete the posts, which I try to do diligently and unfortunately if you subscribe to all forums you will get these emailed to you before I have a chance to clean this mess up. I will investigate some additional filtering for this forum module such as captcha maybe, but if it's a human being it won't stop them either. I apologize about these, but unfortunately this seems to come with forum territory. But I'll see what u can do

What I can do, sorry. Thanks for your patience.
Best regards,
Vlad

All of these members are on the list but they are locked, because otherwise they'll register with the same name again. Which they do, they register with variations of the same name, so don't be alarmed if you see them on the members list, justnotice the little lock icon on the right.
Cheers,
Vlad

Hello Vlad
Maybe it would be a good idea if you build a mechanism that the first message from a new member must be accepted manually by you. Just an idea ...
Best wishes - Guido

Hi Vlad,
I do not post much on the forum but I do read it every day. To be honest, it´s the first thing I do in the morning. I think Guido´s idea of a manual spam filter is great. Furthermore I was surprised how quickly you did remove all these messages.
Thanks,
Henk

I started looking into implementing that, the forum software is a 3rd party product and it's quite hard to modify, but I did find some plug in modules that may help us, they would implement captcha during registration and prevent posting by bots - that's what currently happening. I just need to find time to set these up. Meanwhile please be patient while I work on that.
Thanks,
Vlad.

Thanks for your your understanding, Vlad. I am sure we are all in agreement over this matter.
David.

I totally agree with David. These last times, spams were boring.
Thanks a lot for this extra work, Vlad...

Hmm yeah, I installed couple of anti spam plug ins made for this forum software doesn't seem like it's helping, may have to put in some more coding.. Stay tuned.

ok, I just deployed the strongest filter plug in I could find. It will prevent spambots from registering. This hopefully will do the trick
