Unsuccessful Zorki Fake

This 271716097912 is on ebay for some weeks now and wasn't sold. Obviously someone tried to make a Zorki-2 with a Zorki-2C with short self-timer #57089422 and a top-plate, knobs and a baseplate from a Zorki-1d/e.
The shutter-spring is from an earlier Zorki-2C/C and changed. Also the back was changed with a screwed plate. And there is an other shoe.







Some kind of the same can be found on fotoua (Zorki-2 type-3) only with it seems to be an earlier Zorki-2C with a long self-timer same like on a real Zorki-2.

And here is the catch. Zorkis of course have an arrow for the frame-counter. This arrow is missing on this #57089422 and missing on the fotoua type-3 because they had their arrow on the original top-plate which was longer and under the frame-counter.

I have no idea Jacques because I'm not interested in cameras with such a shoe. Could it be from a Kiev? I really don't know. I have a Kiev-4 but it gives me nothing, I'm not a Kiev friend. But maybe you can tell us.

No that s/n is not from a Kiev (or Contax) camera.

I'm not sure that this camera made to be "fake". It was modified for some purposes, but IMHO not to be presented as some other camera and sold for high $$, I thing that it was modified like this to be used. It looks to me that it was modified long time ago. Cosmetic conditions is bad. Modern faked would be at list cleaned by seller or maker. I personally like such modified cameras, not to say the same about real "fakes".
The serial number on the shoe is not from Kiev or any other FSU cameras I know. Could be from Leica, or Japanese camera. I also reserve possibility that this is special purpose camera, and number on accessory shoe is real, as camera itself.

To me "fake" means a changed camera which isn't original anymore. It doesn't matter to me if a previous owner intended to cheat to get more money or not. I'm less motivated to buy such stuff. For example normally I don't buy cameras with a later added synchro socket. I wouldn't say it's a fake but it isn't original.

The #57089422 is not working. It seems a previous owner faced some difficulties to make it work again and lost the energy to finish his job. To change the shutter-spring like he did (some parts of an earlier spring was cutted) has no purpose.

At least the Zorki-2 type-3 in fotoua seems to be a "fake" in your eyes. The name was changed from "ЗОРКИЙ" to "ЗОРКИЙ 2" for a reason. Sad that the serial-number isn't visible.

There is not only this fake on fotoua.com, there seem to be fakes on sovietcams.com and in the book "1200 cams" also. It would be prudent for us collectors to call out these fakes. Would be sad if someone buys #57089422 thinking it's a rare fotoua type-3.

The more and more I think about this #57089422 I come to this.
Intended was to make a Zorki-2 but the camera didn't work and the job wasn't finished. Then the purpose of this #57089422 was just spare parts. Could be the vulcanite housing with the plate on the back was on another Zorki-2C before. Sometimes on other cameras the lever of the selftimer is missing, good when you have spare parts. Same with the shoe. And the rest is now for sale. Just my 2 cents.

I'm far from being an expert in all the subtypes of the Soviet cameras, but I find the body strange - which Soviet camera has metal around lens mount in a way as this one? It's similar to Leica III. The selftimer lever looks to me like a late Zenit one.

Now the seller describes it as a Zorki-2 when there is no "2" on the top 271731191411
