Mashpriborintorg passed sticker?

5 posts in this thread
Hi all.
So I have those two Zenits with interesting Mashpriborintorg stickers. Never seen those before.
Curious thing is they are suspiciously similar to famous Japanese "Passed" stickers.

This raises a lot of questions like:
1) Did MPI carry an extra quality control for export cameras and put those stickers as a "guarantee mark"?
2) Or was this purely a marketing things designed to ape Japanese makers?
3) Or maybe those were put not by MPI, but a European distributor?

Did anyone encounter those? I'd appreciate any info.

This is pretty interesting! I haven't encountered it before but it must be only put on for export models, I don't see MPI doing this domestically.
Never seen in Finland, and we did get a lot of new Soviet cameras.
Neither on TOE-cameras (UK-importer)
So I would say "3" by a local distributor.

Best regards,
Juhani
Juhani, why would a local distributor put on Mashpriborintorg stickers on? It makes little sense... I think it has to be done by Mashpriborintorg before it reaches the distributor due to a distributor special requirement. It is very possible it's done only for a Netherlands market before it is distributed as it seems these were found there.

I also find it non convincing that a Dutch distributor (e.g East West Agencies) would put a sticker saying Машприборинторг in Russian.
Although I can't be 100% sure they were originally sold in the Netherlands, this is most likely the case.
And I forgot to mention that one camera is Revueflex-E from 1974 and the other is Zenit-EM from 1975.
