Curious FED-Zorki, fake?

5 posts in this thread
Among my other cameras I have found this curious FED-Zorki with s/n 02198.
Very fine made, nevertheless it seems to me to be a fake.
Remarkable is also a release knob. Such pattern I haven't seen before.
Any ideas?

Good morning Alexander

You're probably right, too much differences compared to an original FED-Zorki 1948. Some observations:

- in this s/n range it should be a 1/1000 model, not 1/500 (not very sure)
- the s/n is too much left compared to an original
- the "-" in the s/n is too low
- the "8" in the s/n is very badly aligned
- the speed dail is one of a later Zorki or FED
- the release knob is an early FED one with a bad screw around (not FED or Zorki)
- the transportation knob is a FED one, not a Zorki one
- the arrow on the accessory is not correct for a FED-Zorki
- the color of the screws in the botton is wrong

So you're maybe right, it looks like it's a fake.

Best wishes - Guido

PS: For all outside Europe: It's 01 AM here.

Probably there is no real doubt...
To Guido's list, I could add the position of the pins of the view counter: Fed's rather than Zorki's.

Amitiés. Jacques.

Bonsoir Jacques

That's what I'd tried to say with "the transportation knob is a FED one, not a Zorki one" ... ;-)

Best wishes - Guido
Thank you guys, all my rest doubts just flown away Big smile.

Regards, Alexander
