Alain,

yes you are right. And it has a funny story. I've sold it over my website, the buyer mailed me back that the engravings are totally odd and want's to send it back :-) So I gave him another finder and was happy to get it back to me.

I also have seen some lenses where the distance scale is engraved like the aperture values, I don't know if it's an error, because I saw some of them until now, maybe 5 to 10 pieces.

Really interesting item! Probably made on the end of the month to meet quote at any cost Smile ?
Alain, it would be really interesting to see engraving on your FED. We all know about misprinted Post Stamps, I hear about defective coins smuggled from US Mint and sold for big $$, but cameras and gear.... it much better!!!
May be we should ask Vlad to make category in Wiki for odd and unusual stuff like this?

I'll be happy to make a category like that! Should we call it "Factory Mistakes"? Is there a better term for this? What do they call the stamps that are misprinted? I think there is a proper way of calling this type of things...

The I-50 with 1:3 is also very interesting, but what is wrong with the "V den' 8 marta 1957g"? engraving?

Well, maybe this is an usual gift for a woman? :-)

I do not have a camera, but will try to find a picture of an export Zorki, where the lower, roman letters "Zorki" is spelled without "i", "Zork"

I think these "error" cameras are the ultimate collectibles, they are absolutely unique, maybe only one of each exists!

Hi Yuri!

That's the term I was looking for - "Factory Error Items". If that is ok with everyone I will create the category and if you could all post your finds in there?

THanks!
Vlad.

It seems to me this is not usual commemorative engraving made in gift shop. It seem to me engraving made inside the factory on real machinery, probably it was made inside the FED on illegally or semi-legally assembled camera. Camera was engraved and smuggled outside the factory and presented to favorite women with possible intend to use later for himself(we all did such trick didn't we?:).

Here is my "factory error"! It is a Zorki-2C (from 1959), but was stamped with a "Zorki C" logo, which was then engraved over to read "Zorki 2C"! It is a 2C because it has a synch speed marking of 1/30.

In addition it has a presentation engraving on the back which reads something to the effect of:

"To comrade Pasenko D. Z. - from KGB at SM MSSR 9.5.1960." (MSSR is the Moldavian Soviet Socialist Republic)

So maybe it was not able to be sold because of the error in the name, but was available for the KGB to give as a present???
In any case, I will also add it to both categories in the WIKI (Equipment with Factory Errors & Presentation Cameras).
