Hi everyone,
It's been a while since we spoke about this subject, and I was wondering if anyone else had decided to go to Ikskele in September.
I realise that for various reasons it's difficult for many forum members to be able to attend, but for those who can make it I'm sure that it would be a memorable trip, and of course there is always Bievres next year for those who can't make it to Ikskele this year.
As for me, I'm determined to make the effort and attend Ikskele in September.
As much as the fair itself I'm looking forward to meeting Aidas and hopefully Juhani. I'm not sure who else will be able to make it, but the more the merrier.
Unfortunately I won't be able to book my flight until close to the date because at the moment I don't know where I'm likely to be just before the date of the fair.
So, if anyone else can make it to Ikskele for the fair to be held on the 7th of September please let us know via this forum. I'm sure those who manage to make the trip will be glad they did!
Regards to all, JimSmile

Hi everyone,

Let me tell you more about Ikskele fair. As I already mentioned before, Ikskele fair (or market) takes place on 1st Sunday of June and September every year. Initially intended for old car an bikes enthusiasts, now it's the biggest source for collectors of many hobbies: military related items, guns, memorabilia, dolls, bronze, paitings, literature, souvenirs, various utensils and many many more. Most of the items seem useless for me, but they are quite popular for sale.

Beside all these things there are a lot of cameras for sale. Usually FSU cameras, but happened to see a lot of Germany ones. If you want to buy the famous Minox Riga camera, Ikskele is the right place, but you need to have at least 1,000 euros in your pocket ... Smile

It's very important to mention, that Ikskele fair depends on weather a lot!!! The whole collectables are placed on the ground usually, only very few sellers have plastic tables for expositions indeed. The Ikskele fair is organized in the big industrial territory, so if it's a very dry day - you'll be covered in dust jacket, and if it's rainy, then you aren't lucky ... Smile

Almost all sellers are rising their prices, if you speak english or german, so you need to know at least russian for sure Smile. The prices are low enough in comparison with eBay prices, but are raising every time I'm visiting Ikskele. Just few years ago, you had to pay 3-5 Lats (appr. 4.5-7 euros) for vintage FSU camera, now they are asking 8-10 lats, for instance. If you have plans to visit Ikskele fair, you need to come at 6.30 a.m. hopefully. The professional dealers don't sleep a lot and they are searching rare items since very beginning.

Everything else depend on your luck ... Smile I'm coming to Ikskele every year and never was dissapointed so far ... So if it's possible to come, I'd like to see all of you in Ikskele, 7th of September!

Best Regards,
Aidas
