Old receipt for a Sonnar sold in the USSR !

9 posts in this thread
Hello,

That receipt is found inside an original Sonnar (Contax mount) box.

So a Zeiss item was sold in the Ussr in the 60's ? The receipt is a for a brand new item ? Can someone translate it ? Thanks in advance ;)

Hello Jean!

Your lens belongs to an interesting batch of 5000 lenses, from s/n 2682701 to 2687700 by the "Thiele", all in Contax mount. But the date of delivery is not known.

By my tables, the first 2000 lenses (very roughly!) were officially mounted on the last wartime M and O Contax II/III. Then, the following ones can be seen on the very first 1947 Kievs, or converted into M39 on Fed Red Flag and even a Fed Arsenal. And we can see them too on postwar Contax IIa and IIIa.

Very probably, this batch was partly kept by the Soviets as war spoils, some of them without original mount (all the M39 mounts I know have a Russian M for meter). Concerning yours, it's certainly an original German one found again untouched somewhere and sold as new years later...

But I wait for the translation too...

Amitiés. Jacques.

Hello Jacques !

Here's the 2683962. Camera is Contax III serie M :)

Lens is uncoated !

It's a note to lens owner for receiving money after lens will be sold in pawnshop. Lens handed into shop #23 (of Moscow net of pawnshops) 21 feb 1963 with case, item state: used. Primary setted price 18 roubles(if noone buy it long time price can be lowered or item returned to owner). Pricelevel lower than new Jupiter-8(24 roubles, if i correct remember, from literature, of course).

Yes, it seems that rear cap is genuine. Save the pictures ! I'm afraid we won't see another one.

Very interesting to see that this lens is coated whereas yours (on your Contax III) is not, Jean.
Modification for this lens only, or for the last part of the batch?
yeah it was a pawn shop sales receipt, this isn't a receipt for a brand new item unless someone brought it brand new to pawn shop.

Best regards,
Vlad
