Help my decision

8 posts in this thread
Hello
I intend to buy an half-frame camera. AGAT and Chaika are two candidates. Which one of these two would you advise me to choose ??
Or is there any other easily available model of FSU half-frame camera ?
Thank you in advance
Joao
Hi Joao!

An interesting decision! I have both, and have had decent results from both. It depends more what you are looking for. I'd say the Agat is more fun, it is an unusual and quirky camera. The Chaika is more conventional and probably ought to get better results, but a lot comes down to luck with these old FSU cameras!

Here are two shots, the statue is with the Agat, the mural is with a Chaika II.

Have fun!

Michael.

They are so cheap that I would get both.
I would not underrate Fed Mikron.

Wow, the pictures look good. I have not expected this results from a half-frame camera :-)

Thank you for your input. And yes, Luigi, I will also consider the FED micron.

Another vote for the Agat. I got very decent results, the lens is quite good, it's very light and it's cheap.

I‘m late to the party and you probably already made your decision but I‘d consider the Chaika II with its detachable Industar 69 lens. It is in M39 mount and you can „tune“ it to work on other bodies. But as others suggested, get them both ;)
