Whoohoo!! I am all booked, got the air tickets and the hotel reserved. We are flying in on 6/5 to Paris, and staying at Le Fabe hotel in district 14, which is south portion of Paris closer to Bievres, only 12km away or so. My wife and I will be in Paris until 6/11 exploring the city and tasting the local cuisine and drinking good coffee (I'm hoping for French espresso with thick crema Wink).

Is everyone who is going, planning to go both days - Saturday and Sunday? And Yuri (fedka) was asking me if we could schedule times and places where we could all meet by Alain car.. maybe at noon on Saturday and same on Sunday? This was we are all in the same place, and we can maybe all have lunch somewhere.

Please keep the discussion about Bievres in this Members Only section now as we are going to be discussion details of our stays etc.. I'd rather not have that as public information.

Separate personal Merci to Alain for providing me with directions and advice about Bievres! And to Yuri who had provided me with these useful links if you are staying in Paris before or after the show. I have to share them with you:

Some good guides of Paris:
http://www.ricksteves.com/

http://www.ricksteves.com/plan/destinations/france/france_menu.htm

and then you drill in under Paris, for example here is a great walk:

About Metro

There is also book available if you like these guides

There is also a great flea market, the biggest one:
http://www.gisparis.com/paris_shopping/flea_market.htm

It is at the last stop of the 4 line, Porte de Clignancourt, very easy to get to.

Thanks Yuri for these!

Well, I have been to Paris a year ago, so I think I will manage.
But good advice about hotels would be nice, eg Ryanair can book me zillion hotels if I only knew which one would be decent. Not looking for five stars but a reasonable value for price!

Best regards,
Juhani

Well venere.com has tons of rating and reviews for budget hotels, if that is what you are looking for... the one we found is not too cheap about $145EU a night but it seems to stand out as a bit better than average with a little bigger rooms by French standards and a nice modern design (Le Fabe) - http://www.urbanpartner.net/en/hotel-le_fabe_hotel_paris.html ....

but it's not right by Bievres, you may want to find something closer, we are booking this one because we are staying a week in Paris...

Vlad.

Yes, the problem is that there is tons of hotels...
If I start to read them maybe I can come in 2012?
And we are planning on having a rental car, so we can stay on the outskirts, as long as there is metro/subway somewhere close.

Best regards,
Juhani

Or if the link doesn't work:
Premiere Classe Igny
12 Rue Maryse Bastie, 91430 Igny
Should be near Bievres, near Metro and cheap, can "locals" confirm?
Just about to buy the trip...

And members in GERMANY:
Any good & cheap "Bed and brekfast" on route from FFaM towards France?
Or a website to search for them?

Best regards,
Juhani

One week holiday now booked & flights paid Approve
Arriving to Frankfurt, from there driving to Bievres with rental car, possibly through Luxembourg and Champagne. Lots of time to see Paris also, and/or the countryside. To Paris with metro, but with car we can go as far as we want Big smile
Thanks Alain for the emails today Wink

Best regards,
Juhani

Hello Jean-Pierre,

this thread is from 2009, when we all met up in Bievres, to our greatest regret Alain had passed away a little more than 2 years ago, he was our gracious host back then. I wonder who is going to be at Bievres this year from our forum?

Best regards,
Vlad
