I would prefer Zorki-1 as well, I'll just get 1 instead of 2, but if majority want Zorki-4 instead I'll go with majority.

Colin, FED-2 is the same as Zorki-4 - 140EUR. We already did FED-2 last time, so this time the consensus is it's gotta be Zorki-4. He also mentioned with can do Zorki-C for 160EUR, so that's in the middle. FED-1 is the same as Zorki-1 - 180EUR. Zorki-3 is not an option, they're pretty scarce especially in the quantities we need and to tell you the truth I wouldn't dare deface one of those, they're pretty collectible. Smile. So waiting for feedback and consensus.

Thanks,
Vlad

Okay this may be another daft question.. but I wall ask anyway.

Re-The Zorky 4 will the engraving ( Zorki 4) on the front be removed and replaced with maybe the USSRphoto logo ?

And this is where I get really cheeky ... The Zorki 4 with ... that lovely JUPITER LENS.. now wouldn't that be nice!

Okay I have 'Plan A & B'

Because I'm on an fixed income each month I have X-amount of dollars for spending on cameras.

So if it's the Zorki 4 no problems .. within my monthly budget .. Zorki 1 .. stay away form eBay for a month or so LOL

Whatever the forums choice is re-the model I will go along with that.

Hello Vlad and all the others

After rethinking the Zorki 4 would be a very good choice after all. Maybe the 10th anniversary camera could be a Zorki 1 or a FED 1, we will see. For the design I'm open to any new ideas, but with the Jupiter lens there could be a problem, because of the box, that have to be larger than the older one. Maybe a Industar 50 would be better? Okay, it's not so original and looks not so good ... What do you think?

Best wishes - Guido

Hello Colin

A Zorki with a FED lens?! Oh no, please ... ;-) - The Jupiter 8 would be the right choice, a Industar 50 from KMZ (or an other associated company) could be an alternative. But after all I would prefer the Jupiter 8 and a larger box.

Have a good ... morning? No, afternoon? However, best wishes from Switzerland to the other side of the planet!

Hello Guido

" A Zorki with a FED lens?! Oh no, please ... ;-) " I just wanted to see how a pop out lens would look ..

" Jupiter 8 and a larger box." that would be my number one choice.

Or

If was the slim-line box.. maybe the lens could be removed and the camera fitted with a body-cap.. but that may be not such a good idea. Colin

One question for himself.

Hello Vlad.

If this project gets off the ground.. any chance of a very rough time-line.

i.e when the deposit needs paying?

and ET for the final payment?

I realize that at the moment you may not have any idea ..but I thought why not ask.

Colin

PS I'm sure you think I'm a real pain in the neck..so this is my last question.. I hope..lol

Hello Colin

The Industar 22 and the early Industar 50's are also collapsible lenses. See:

http://www.ussrphoto.com/Wiki/default.asp?WikiCatID=25&ParentID=2&ContentID=325&Item=Industar%2D50+50%2F3%2E5+Elmar+Type+Chrome

(By the way it's not an Elmar type lens but a Tessar type looking like an Elmar, but it's yet an other story.)

For the removed lens in the small box I think that there is not enough space. So the bigger box would be a better idea. Well, a body cap I've never seen for a Zorki as far as I remember. But it would be nice to see/find one.

Best wishes - Guido

Zorki-4's that he has only come with either Industar-61 or Industar-50-2 - J-8 is not available unless you buy your own separately somewhere else. I'll go with Zorki-4 if everyone wants it but I do think Zorki-1 will look nicer and classier as a collectibles..

We first need to decide on which camera, and get exact number of people who want one, I want to wait at least another week to give everyone opportunity to see this thread, then once we're ready then the deposits are due directly to the seller/maker. I am not doing this for profit so I'm not involved in any monetary transactions. Final payment is due when cameras are ready which will take a few weeks at the least. Realistically I'm thinking we may have cameras in our hands by the end of the year or early next year since shipping from Russia takes about a month or sometimes 5-6 weeks or so..

Cheers,
Vlad

Hello Vlad

A Zorli 4 with the Industar 50-2 would be fine for me (but if the Industar 50-2 will be in black I think a black top of the Zorki 4 would be a better idea ...). The Industar 61 is often made by FED so it don't fit historicaly I think. Maybe it would be better to not mix too much the producers. And if the camera's top will be black, it's better to choose an other color for the leathering. Maybe dark blue or grey?

The Zorki 1 is a little too expensive for the moment, but I will pay the extra cost if everyone will agree. But the solution with a (black) Zorki 4 is also a very nice variant.

Best wishes - Guido

Vlad,

and what is about me? Add me please to the list!

I would prefer Zorki-1. I agree, that Zorki-1 looks finer, but I have no problems with other cameras as well, if majority decides for any other camera. My opinion, Zorki-4 with Industar-61 looks not so good as "anniversary" camera.

Regards, Alexander

For me the price for the Zorki 1 would be ok, but if the others prefer the Zorki 4 it is ok for me. But if we take a Zorki 4 the lens should be a Jupiter 8 or a collapsible Industar 50 and NO rigid I-50 (looks ugly on Zorki 4). A Zorki C is not acceptable for me because I don't like it's shape very much :-)
Vlad, what are the prices for a Kiev II(a) or Kiev 4A?

Ulrich

Hello!

In fact, I would agree any solution, even a camera covered with (false!)gold, mahogany, crocodile leather or what you want Big smile. Even a Zorki 2C that I don't like. Because it represents the site, all of us, friendship, and a consequent common work. But it is important too not to make it too difficult for Vlad...

So, OK for any anniversary camera even if I should prefer a Fed 1 or a Zorki 1. No box please: not enough room...

Amitiés. Jacques.

I've just got back from my hols and have read all the discussion on this forum topic. I am tempted to suggest a Smena-8M with balsa wood finish and lime green lettering. Just joking, in case anyone takes me seriously. Count me in for one camera, whatever is eventually chosen.

David.

All,

from all the feedback I've read and peoples I emailed with I see that everyone agrees on Zorki-1 and disagrees on styles etc on anything other than. I know it's a little bit more expensive on Zorki-1 but at least we all agree that it'll look the nicest. At this point no one opted out from Zorki-1 so I'm inclined to go with that one. I will let everyone know what the final price is and when the deposits are due.

Please let me know if you're changing your mind or quantities on Zorki-1.

Thanks,
Vlad.

Hi Vlad re the provisional quote

I don't wanna sound like I'm penny pinching ..I was wondering why the quote or the Zorki 1 is so high.

Okay I realise the guy is doing the engraving just for this forum and he needs 10 + cameras this of cause will push the price up.

What has me wondering is why we are talking about 180E .. $US 250 for this camera when he( Moscowphoto) is selling refurbished what looks like the Zorki 1 for $US120 .. less than 1/2 the price.

Yes he is running a business and not a charity ...but he will have guaranted sales of at least ten cameras..I thought the quote wouldn't have been so high.

I may be totally wrong and will end up eating Humble Pie.

As much as I would like the Zorki 1 the more I think about it the cheaper one may have been better choice . As I have already stated I will "go with the flow" if the Z1 what the majority of the members want.
Sorry I'm turning into a real pain in the neck.

Colin, valid concern I didn't realize those lots were in U.S. Dollars, the question does arise. He did mention that Zorki-q are really hard to get now especially in those quantities. I have been trying to get his phone to call him so lets see if I can clarify.
