Value of camera bags

8 posts in this thread
Almost all of you probably have many leather bags from different Russian cameras. While the cameras are staying in a showcase, laying the bags somewhere and taking a lot of space. Some of them are old, heavily used and also partly stinking.
My question: do they have any collector value or are they just for storage?
Your opinion is very welcome.

Regards, Alexander

Hello Alexander,

I just keep one or two bags per type of camera, with possible exceptions (original Jena Contax and Jena Kiev ones, for example).
A painter here is very interested by these old bags for his "still lifes"!...

Amitiés. Jacques.
I keep the bags stored separately, so I still have them. But as many collectors are only interested in having the camera in vitrine, many cameras have lost their bags. In my opinion, a camera with bag and box and passport would be best, but unfortunaly I am one of the rare thinkers of this.

Best regards,
Juhani
I'll gladly sell mine in bulk for cheap to someone who needs them, mine take up half my garage Smile.. I feel bad about throwing them out so I keep them.. hundreds of cases Smile

Hi Vlad

Yes, that's my problem too. I don't sell them but they take much of my place ... Hunderts of them too ... :-/

Best wishes - Guido
In my opinion only bags from rare cameras have its own value e.g. bags from early FED NKVD without screw at the bottom.
Rest of them (e.g. from regular FED NKVD) are useless today, mostly not pretty and what to do with them ?

I agree with Alfa, but still have all of them and every time wonder if I need them indeed Smile.

I have the most of my bags in some old pillowcases and put them in the attic. Only some early FED and KIEV cases are on the shelf.
