Hi all!!

If you are interested, this topic is to share the fakes we all have in our collections. In our countries, we surely all have different models. The purpose is also to know from wich type of camera the fake is coming from.

I am starting with 2 models of Sagem camera.
Engraving are in French
What is interesting is the base plate engraving
In correct French, we should have these words:
Fermé for close or lock
Ouvert for open
These models have the same uncorrect word for open: Ouvré
It does not exist in French. It's as you write opain for open....

Please enjoy

Fred

From my point of vue Juhani, it is not a fke but a real Shanghai 58.
It seems to be very difficult to copy this camera, especially the top cover and Slow speed selector.
I own 3 Shanghai-58 and they seem to be exactly the same as yours...

I also have fake Shanghai-58. I'll make picture and post it

Thank you Fred, so I made a good deal years ago when I bought this Wink

Must take good pictures of my "golden" Lieca also, it is a purchase from the time I still scanned analogue prints...
Even their prices have gone up nicely
Shy
Best regards,
Juhani

Hello friends

Camera fakes and modifications are one of my special interessts some of you may know. There are 22 cameras in my collection at the moment, most of them "FED-Zorki" (8), five of them 1949 (!). But there are also some "special" FED's (4), two of them "Sibiria's". Also two Kristall's (full black und partial red), two Leica IId, and a colorful Leica-72. And a fake TSSVS of cause with an original Sonnar 50mm/2.0. Last but not least some modifications of the Zorki-1 (3) and one Zorki-3, not counting the two UssrPhoto commemoration cameras by the way.

On eBay you can't find much of such modifications and fakes in our days because the last forger or craftpersons with this knowledge are retired or passed away. That's by the way the reason why we can't find someone to build a third UssrPhoto commemoration camera sadly.

Best wishes - Guido

Hello Fred

Very nice fake of fake! It was made then together with the Zorki-1 batch? This remembers me a fake Leica based on a Zorki-C I've seen in an (other?) forum. A nice try too ... ;-)

Best wishes - Guido

S/n of the lens: 6107. Certainly one of the last "one turn", and probably a bit too young for the body. I confirm about the numbers of the distance scale, which are normal.
On the front, "FED" only was suppressed, and replaced by "Elmar": there are traces of erasion. No other modifications, by comparison with my other "one turn" lenses.

Amitiés. Jacques.

I dig out this thread, just to add a word to Fred's message dated of 13/02/2019.
This camera (a so called "Geodesiya") was made from a Fed 1b. The texture of the vulcanite is special and can be found aroud the s/n 12/15000 and 25/26000. So, more or less the same year as the original cameras. Not bad...
So, lucky find, Fred!

Amitiés. Jacques.
