Remembering Alain Berry

9 posts in this thread
Wow it's been 10 years since Alain has left us, I just wanted to post something remembering one of our original members, always started some great discussions and was full of life and jokes.

A few photos from Bievres in 2009 to remember him by:

A group photo from our meeting in Bievres
Left to right: myself, Jim McGee, Yuri Boguslavsky, Yuri Davidenko, Claire Berry, Alain (below), David Thomlinson (above), Juhani Halmeenmaki (above), [I'm not sure who's below him, Alain's friend], Jean

Aidas Pikiotas, Alain and myself

Alain and Jim McGee (what happened to him??)

This photo says it all

And the last email I recevied from him in August 2010.. he passed away a couple of week after..

Thanks for the souvenir, Vlad.
He was the guy who introduced me to the mysteries of FSU cameras, more than twenty years ago now...
Your photos from Bievres in 2009 are moving.
About Jim, no news after some private messages.

Jacques.
Thank you Jacques! Are you in contact with Claire? How is she? Still collecting cameras herself?

Regarding Jim I fear he is not with us anymore, he was battling cancer back in 2009 already when we met in Bievres...

Best regards,
Vlad

Hi Vlad,

No news from Claire. And no news from close friends: possibly her wish...
Last time I had Jim, years ago now, well after he had tried to sell his collection, he was very bad. So...

Best regards too. Jacques.
Rest In Peace my friend Alain. I miss you. Bill

Hello,

I remember well that day ! And I will forever.
My son was born on june 2009, and now 11 years old young boy is starting to collect cameras (he's also studying how to repair kiev and zorki's).
Best,
Jean
Eleven years? I thought it was just a couple...

Best regards,
Juhani
Imagine that, right?! Time flies! Jean, that's amazing, I wish my kids showed some interest! Smile Maybe there is still time..

Best regards,
Vlad
Rest asssured, mine are around 30 and now I can see things happening, finally ;)

Juhani
