Hello everybody,
My name is Adrian from Basel, Switzerland. Since 15 years I work in Fotohaus Wolf, a classic photo store in existence since 1899. I took over the store in 2019.
We do a lot of second-hand dealing, a big focus on Leica and all kinds of rare and/or interesting cameras and lenses. Also we have a in-house workshop and a lab. Our service technician is from Serbia and he knows quite a bit about soviet gear.
Soviet Camera industry have always been quite a mystery for me though, as there is so much to find out about and there are so many counterfeits and confusing customized cameras.
Recently we were approached by young woman, if we would be interested in maybe taking over a big collection of cameras by her late father.
His name was Guido Studer!
That name rang a bell in the back of my head, I remembered researching some things on his very informative website.
After an initial check of the collection we could agree on a deal and we took over his complete collection. This forum has been of great help getting the needed knowledge to sort out his collection. As i am a dealer (but also a collector, I try not to overdo the collector in me:), as it is dangerous for a dealer) my interest in gear is as good as always coupled to a financial relevance.
I wonder if the community is aware of eventual rarities in guido's collection?
Until now I could identify the following things:
- a square logo Zenit
- 5 early fed's (one burnished chrome) 4digit serials
- a tsvvs (fake)
- 2x fed siberia (one for sure fake)
- a 5 years ussrphoto camera :) (that will go to the in-house collection)
- 10x fed zorkis (minimum 4 fakes)
- a fed red flag
- a kiev iiii with Ukrainian logo (there is one in out licht auction on 25.5.)
- a 35mm F/2.8 BK
- all Zenit up top Zenit 19
- a unknown Zenit 18M (there was a report on guidos homepage about it)
Most of more common gear, we will check service and list in our webshop, some things are already listed there (link at the end). I am 100% sure that I will fail to identify everything of relevance properly...
If you have questions or are maybe looking to take over some things from his collection I am open for fair suggestions, as I feel it's right to offer you guys the chance to have some things from guidos collection.
i am really looking forward to feedback to this message.
best regards from switzerland
