The first production run of the kiev 4M had a black painted top plate and light meter housing. This was a short production run and the camera was changed to the more conventional look after a few months. An Olympic commemoration model was produced in 1980 with the Juliter 8M lens. This later version (from 1982) had the self timer lever completely covered and a higher profile to the rewind crank.
