Horizon Kompakt

2005

The Horizon Kompakt was manufactured by KMZ specifically for the Lomographic Society. Although Lomographic Society members would probably disagree with me, this is not a camera for the serious panoramic photographer. The body is based on the Horizon 202, but beyond that it bears little resemblance to it. The Horizon Kompakt has no lever wind and has only a simple fiction-driven frame counter. There is no provision for using a cable release or tripod. It is not even supplied with a hand grip. The lens-swing has two speeds, but only a single shutter speed on each, 1/60 and 1/2 second. There is no interlock between shutter cocking and film advance, so multiple exposures and blank frames are possible. There is no spirit level and no means of setting the aperture, which is fixed at f/8. The lens is an MC Industar 8/28. The complete kit consists of the camera, plastic case and Lomography picture book.
