FED 2L

Similar to 2D but with black nylon covering and black trim ring around lens as well as top and bottom. Also no strap lugs. A 1969 KATALOr shows a Fed 2L with strap lugs. Always fitted with Industar 61 (usually zebra/panda version) with Lanthanum rare earth element/s (contrary to some sites, it seems all versions of 61s are so endowed), hence the "L".

Only FED-2 model with official alphabetical classification by factory. Some sites claim that some bodies were marked with an "L" as well but I have yet to see one. Only factory identification will be on passport. See dvdtechcameras.com site for photo of camera and accompanying passport.

DVDTechnik also has a photo of what Princelle calls a 2E (FED-3 with FED-2 shutter) fitted with a 61 and called a "2L" on its pasport. While it is easily understood why the factory would call all its FED-2s fitted with an Industar 61 "FED-2L", it is perplexing for collectors!
